Serial Configuration RUT955 Unavailable

I have a RUT955 Running Firmware 07.01.4

I have several of these operating in the field. This is the first one that I cannot find the Serial Port configuration page anywhere in the web UI. It typically shows up under the SERVICES section but I cannot find it anywhere.

I’m thinking I should update the firmware first but I’m hoping there is a quicker temporary solution and then we can update the firmware when we have a technician onsite in case it comes offline.

Thanks!

Hello,

Could you clarify whether you’re referring to the Serial Utilities or the Modbus Serial Server/Client services?

Updating to the latest firmware version, RUT9_R_00.07.06.16, would be recommended to ensure optimal functionality. This version can be downloaded here or directly from the server in the WebUI under System → Firmware. If you’re willing to update it from the server, ensure the router has a stable internet connection.

Alternatively, if your device is connected to RMS, you can upgrade the firmware through it. Instructions for this process can be found here.

Best regards,

I attempted to update the firmware from your link and I received an error message. I have attached screen shots from the firmware error and a comparison of another RUT955 I have in the field running the same firmware. You notice under the SERVICES menu, my other device has links for RS232 and RS485. On the device I’m having trouble with, those options are not available. Is there a method to setup a serial configuration on this device?

Hello,

To start, could you confirm if you’ve tried performing a factory reset on the device?
Instructions on how to perform a factory reset are available here: Factory Reset Instructions.

Furthermore, could you try updating the firmware via the Bootloader menu? This method can sometimes bypass software issues causing the error. You can find a step-by-step guide on accessing the Bootloader menu and uploading the firmware image here: Bootloader Menu Guide.

Best Regards,
