RUTXR1 disconnecting fiber link with other RUTXR1

Hello everyone,

I have two RUTXR1 connected together by the fiber. They were communicating very well until the 27th of January, midnight (the time it stopped seems weird, that’s why I mention it). Since the communication stopped, the log on the 1rst RUTXR1 (the one I can reach because it has a SIM card in it) displays the same 3 messages again and again :
Port link state of port WAN changed to UP
Port speed for port WAN changed to 1000 baseT
Port link state of port WAN changed to DOWN
Port link state of port WAN changed to UP
Port speed for port WAN changed to 1000 baseT
Port link state of port WAN changed to DOWN

A technician on site unplugged and plugged back its power cable and I got the connection between the two RUTXR1 back for a few minutes (the log doesn’t display any message at that time) and then it went back to nothing, with the same log messages as before.

When the link between the two RUTXR1 went down (at 00:00:37 the 28th of January) the only log message was " Port link state of port WAN changed to DOWN" and nothing more. Since then, it seems to be stuck in a UP/DOWN loop.

Have you ever encountered this ?

Thanks a lot,

Céleste

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. To better understand your setup, could you clarify a few things:

  • You have remote access to one of the routers (RUT1) since it has a public IP?
  • How is the second router connected to RUT1 via fiber or Ethernet cable? Is it in RUT1 LAN?

Additionally, could you confirm the firmware versions currently installed on both routers?

Furthermore, to better investigate the issue, could you also provide logs from System → Maintenance → Troubleshoot by navigating to System log → Show section?

Best regards,

Hello Martynas,

Yes, I have access to the first RUTXR1 since it has a public IP.
The second RUTXR1 is connected to the first one via fiber

The software on the 1rst RUTXR1 is 7.05.4, but I can’t say with exactitude what version of the software is running on the second one, since I cannot access it. It should be the same software version though.

Regarding the system log, it’s crowded with some other scripts I’m running on it, so it doesn’t get further than the 31rst of January at 13:43…
