RUTX50 - WLAN 5GHz not working

Hello together,

I am reaching out regarding a technical issue with my RUTX50 router.

The 5GHz Wi-Fi band is not functioning. Despite various configuration attempts, the 5GHz signal is either not being broadcast or devices are unable to connect to it, while the 2.4GHz band and mobile connection work as expected.

I have already performed the following troubleshooting steps:

• Updated the device to the latest firmware version.

• Performed a factory reset.

• Tested different channels and bandwidth settings for the 5GHz band.

Since these steps did not resolve the issue, I am concerned that this might be a hardware defect.

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Maxchen

Hello everyone,

does anyone have an idea? The device is still under warranty. Could this be a hardware defect? Would the logs help?

Greetings,

Did the 5 GHz band ever work previously? If so, did the issue start after any configuration changes or a firmware update, or has it not worked since the initial setup?

Does the behavior change depending on the configuration? You mentioned that sometimes the 5 GHz network is not broadcast at all, and at other times it is visible, but devices cannot connect? What happens with the default settings?

If the network is visible but devices cannot connect, have you tried changing the encryption protocol under the Wireless Security tab?

Are all of your end devices unable to connect to the 5GHz network?

You could also try reflashing the device firmware via the bootloader menu: RUTX50 Device Recovery Options - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Hello Justinas,

the 5 GHz Wi-Fi has not been working for several months across multiple firmware versions. I have just updated to version RUTX_R_00.07.21.3, but unfortunately there has been no change. The 5 GHz Wi-Fi is enabled and the router’s status LED is lit, but the signal strength indicator in the menu always shows 0%. Trying a different antenna has also not improved the situation. Can the troubleshooting file help determine whether there is a hardware defect?

Maik

It will always show 0% until a device connects to that 5GHz AP but as you cannot connect, it’s only of theoretical interest.

Did you try reflashing the firmware using the Bootloader process as suggested?

The 5.0 wifi band should work straight out of the box or after a factory reset, both using the default WiFi password printed on the back of the router. If you have done this, WHEN the RUTX has internet connectivity, then it sounds like a candidate for exchange under warranty. I say ‘WHEN’, because some types of End User Devicess will refuse to connect to WiFi if there is no internet connectivity present.

Reflashing firmware was successful. 5 GHz Wi-Fi is working again. Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Maxchen
