RUTX50 - Unable to connect 5G L2TP / How to totally disable 3G

Hello,

I am testing a particular config with a Data only SIM card (connected with L2TP PAP authentication, 5G NSA). The connexion is not working and only 3G signals are detected.

  • RUTX50 is up to date (RUTX_R_00.07.08.1 / modem RG501QEUAAR12A08M4G_04.200.04.200), the 4 antennas are correctly connected.

  • On the same location, if I mount this SIM card on a 5G smartphone (Oneplus 12), the 5G connexion works perfectly, with a fair reception signal (around -70dBm at 3,5Ghz band).

It is not a signal quality problem.

  • On the same location, if I mount this SIM card on a RUT241 with same L2TP configuration, the 4G connexion works perfectly, with a fair reception signal (around -65dBm at LT2 B3 band).
    (FIY We currently have 200+ RUT240/241 modem also with 4G/L2TP connexion of the same provider who works perfectly.)

It is not a L2TP configuration problem.

  • On the same location, I a mount another SIM card of the same provider (but Data+Voice without L2TP needed), the 5G connexion works perfectly on the RUTX50 (same tower, same signal : around -70dBm at 3,5Ghz band).

It is not a hardware/modem problem with the RUTX50.

In conclusion I suspect a conflict with how the RUTX50 specifically manage the first connexion with the DATA/L2TP SIM card.

The final question is : Is there a way to totally disable 3G for testing ? I only got 5G/4G/3G auto, 4G/3G auto…and no 5G/4G auto. And If I force bands, I am unable to deselect all the 3G bands (I must select one at least).

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community!

As we are currently working on private messages, can you run logread -f command on CLI then restart mobile connection under Status → Network → Mobile? Then post any logs received here. Make sure to blur/hide any sensitive information from logs.

As of now, we can only force connection to 5G by choosing 5G Mode: SA.

Thanks for your reply. First our network operator uses 5G NSA so I have to choose 5G+4G but the option does not exists without also enabling 3G.
