we have a new router and would need to understand how to configure Rutx50 to provide real time data from an application called NMEArouter installed on laptop to mobile cellular device with an application called LogbookNMEA through internet. For now it works as long as both devices are on the same LAN. It does not work if the mobile device has internet access connection but is not on the same LAN as the laptop.
Which services/settings shall we configure on the router?
Apologies for a delayed response. Could you confirm or clarify whether I have understood your current setup correctly? You have an NMEA application running on a laptop connected to the RUTX50 LAN, and the goal is to access this real-time NMEA data over the internet on your mobile (cellular) device.
If that is the case, a simple port forwarding rule should be sufficient, assuming your RUTX50 has a static public IP address. If your IP is dynamic, configuring DDNS would be necessary.
The port forwarding rule could be set up similarly to the example shown in the screenshot below, assuming port 10110 is used for NMEA data transmission.
