RUTX50 Public IP adress

Hello,

What I have:
1 RUTX50
1 FritzBox

I want, that the X50 is only a “receiver” for the Internet.
Because now I only get the IP-Adress from the X50 at the FritzBox when i plug the Ethernet Cable from the LAN of X50 to WAN of the Fritzbox.
So i can’t make a VPN (over DYNDNS) in the FritzBox.
So what to do, that the FritzBox “see” the external IP-Adress?

I read a lot of examples here, but i am not a super network Ingeneer and there are so many points in the settings where i have no idea what it is (wan, wan6, eth0, eth1, bridge, nat, …)
Spent a lot of time since, but it does not run.
So please when you explain, think i am an idiot and explain point for point what i have to do

I only want the X50 as “a receiver” for the Internet. To “see” the IP adress at the Fritzbox.

Thank you very much

Hello,

From what you’ve described, it sounds like you want the FritzBox to obtain the public IP address directly, instead of the RUTX50 assigning a local IP. In this case, Passthrough mode might be exactly what you’re looking for, as it allows the RUTX50 to act as a “receiver” for the internet while passing the public IP directly to the FritzBox.

Best Regards,

Hi RonnyZ

As advised by Martynas passthrough/bridge is a way to go.

You also need to make sure your mobile provider offers setting “Public IP” for your SIM number.
In most of the cases when you get the sim for mobile broadband it will provide the internet but you can’t use it for opening ports, setting up VPNs etc. as they use CGNAT.
If that’s the case, call the provider and ask them to enable Public IP for your SIM, they will give you further instructions regarding APN set up etc. Good luck!
