I have a Teltonika RUTX50 in my camper. This is connected with a Poynting MIMO 3-17 antenna (MIMO-3-17) on the roof. The antenna has 4x4 MIMO as well as a GPS antenna and 2 Wifi antennas as well.
The router is inside a cupboard, and I’m baffled to see, that 3-4m away from the router I only have 63% signal. I’ve checked all settings, and the wifi is broadcasted with 100% power.
One could argue, that the outside antenna would broadcast the wifi way better on the outside of the camper, but I need to be within 4-5m on the outside as well to get signal at all.
I’ve also tried to install the included 2 wifi antennas to the router, but the signal inside the camper is pretty much the same.
In WebUI navigate to Network → Wireless → Radio, set Channel to Auto, and select 40MHz width (for 2.4GHz WI-Fi), 80MHz width (for 5GHz WI-Fi). Please let me know if the speed has changed.
In WebUI navigate to Firewall → General Settings and please insure that Software flow offloading is enabled under the Routing/NAT Offloading.
Could you please specify if this problem started with the newest firmware, or if it also occurred with the older firmware? There is a chance that the issue could be related to the firmware version.
Also, please tell me what device you are using to test the WiFi. Is it a phone, tablet, PC, or something else? Have you tried using a different device for testing? Do the results remain the same?
To test the router more effectively, I suggest using an application to check the WiFi channels in your environment, such as WiFi Analyzer https://www.wifianalyzer.info/. Try changing the channel to one that is less congested and please let me know if this helps.
Tried this (but only having 5GHz activated though), but no difference in speed.
It’s enabled and been all the time
I had issues and installed updates, but still had issues. That said I did not have issues 6 months ago with same setup, so could be that a firmware version 2-3 steps back was better
I need to tell, that I quite often get “IPv4 connectivity started to fail” and shortly after get “IPv4 connectivity restored” in the events log. Not sure if it’s related though.
I would like to review a troubleshoot file. Please fill out the form I have sent you, and once completed, I will contact you privately regarding this. For the ticket ID, please use “9483”.
