RUTX50 poor wifi performance

Over past few weeks, my routers wifi performance has dropped from 100-150Mbps to 10-15Mbps. There has been couple of firmware updates recently and I just upgraded to latest one. I have 2.4 ang 5 Ghz networks with same SSID in use, disabled legacy but what other settings could be tuned for better performance? My laptop is now connected with cable, so I get the speed I used to get via wifi. Router speedtest gives me about 250/70 speeds

I have selected free channels for both frequencies, no help. There are a lot of neighbours wifis that might interfere, but channels are not overlapping now. Tried 20, 40 and 80 channel widths too, no help.

Hello,

  1. Please ensure that the WiFi antenna is connected properly to the router and positioned at a 90-degree angle. Additionally, when testing the mobile connection, please ensure that both mobile antennas are connected properly and positioned at a 90-degree angle.
  2. In WebUI navigate to Network ā†’ Wireless ā†’ Radio, set Channel to Auto, and select 40MHz width (for 2.4GHz WI-Fi), 80MHz width (for 5GHz WI-Fi). Please let me know if the speed has changed.
  3. In WebUI navigate to Firewall ā†’ General Settings and please insure that Software flow offloading is enabled under the Routing/NAT Offloading.
  4. Have you tried using a different device for testing (e.g. phone)? Do the results remain the same?
  5. To test the router more effectively, I suggest using an application to check the WiFi channels in your environment, such as WiFi Analyzer https://www.wifianalyzer.info/. Try changing the channel to one that is less congested and please let me know if this helps.

Best Regards,

Thanks,

my antennas are fine.

I did remove 2.4ghz from wifi and that seemed to help, so now only 5ghz in use. Now speed is like it used to be. Other recommended tweaks in use too, maybe they helped or maybe not.

Iā€™m glad to hear that the speed issue has been resolved.

If you have any more questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
