RUTX50 Ping/Wget - Action if no echo received

Hi,

Can someone explain the definative difference between ‘(Re)register’ and ‘Restart mobile connection’ if no echo is received in the Ping/Wget reboot settings?

Many thanks,

Mike

Hi @Mike,

from what I understand it works like this:

  • re-register tells the modem to “logout” from the mobile network and then establish
    the connection again
  • restart simply reboots the modem

The first option obviously is quicker but if something “got stuck” in the modem’s
hardware it probably won’t succeed.

The second option (as in gsmctl -Q) will reset and re-initialize the hardware inside
the modem.

That’s what I got out of readings in the wiki and my “experiments” with spare routers.

Hi @timelapsesystems … thanks for sharing your observation and from what I’ve seenm their ‘restart mobile connection’ is different from their ‘reboot modem’ option, so I am still left without and understanding of the difinative difference.

Many thanks for feeding back.

Kind regards,

Mike
