I have a RUTX50 on 5G SA that has been disconnecting from the mobile network. Out of rebooting for whatever reason, configuring or firmware updates I usually keep the router running 24x7. And recently, I’ve noticed the router disconnect from the mobile network every few days. It happened just now so I was able to check the mobile status and it showed no network so I clicked Restart connection and it then managed to reconnect. EDIT: I thought it has reconnected but this morning the status showed as connected but it was not so I had to reboot the router which is what I would usually do.
I moved to another ISP with the last couple of months and have it configured as follows so it stays on 5G SA only, I don’t have any other settings right now such as custom scripts etc.
Could you please clarify whether the modem disconnects from 5G SA during periods of high throughput, for example, while performing a speed test, or does it happen randomly every few days without any clear load pattern?
Additionally, since you currently have a single LTE band locked, could you temporarily select all available LTE bands and observe whether the modem falls back to an LTE network when the 5G connection is lost?
Let me know the outcome so I can assist you further.
@Martynas the device continued to disconnnect twice today in the morning and afternoon so I deviced to place the nework on auto and continue to monitor it.
@Martynas now it seems I have some kind of ongoing issue as the this morning the device was disconnected again. Everything looks normal but it isn’t connected.
My only option since I don’t know what’s going in is to reset the device and restore my standard settings (passwords, my own WiFi SSIDs) then I move the active WAN interdace to the top and apply the MTU value and that is all. It’s connected now and I will continue to monitor it. Very strange.
Good morning I have a Teltonika RUTX50 router from February 2025 manually configured on 5G NSA (see photo) with a single sim inserted updated with the firmware RUTX_R_00.07.13.4 | 2025.04.04 everything works correctly no disconnections. In these days I had updated to the firmware RUTX_R_00.07.14 | 2025.04.24 before going to sleep. When I woke up, it was on my phone that the home automation devices were not reachable, I check carefully and from absent connection, for the wifi connection I use another router with more performing wifi connected in cascade to the Teltonika RUTX50. I turn on the computer and access the router interface via browser and find as in the previous community messages: Disconnected, I try to reconnect but after a few minutes I find myself without an internet connection, I check the connection settings and notice that they are not in manual, but are set after the upgrade to automatic, I decide to go back to the previous firmware with all the problems of the case. Now the router has an internet connection, but I find that the password to access the interface via browser is not recognized. I search on the Teltonika website and find some procedures that after several attempts make me reset the password. Then I restore the router settings with the previously saved backup. My humble opinion you have put the firmware RUTX_R_00.07.14 | 2025.04.24 in the FW & SDK Downloads as Mass production FW, I recommend putting the previous one until these problems are solved, with all the previous firmware upgrades I have never encountered all these problems, both disconnection and loss of settings.
Sorry for my English but I use a translator.
Many thanks @ClaudioBa for the very detailed description and recommendation
Ok so you think I should roll back the firmware to RUTX_R_00.07.13.4 | 2025.04.04 from the RUTX50 Firmware Downloads page? Interesting point and since the connection had been working okay up until now a firmware issue would make sense.
@Martynas following @ClaudioBa’s suggestion I rolled the firmware back to previous version and for now will ignore the upgrade prompts since at the this point given that the mobile connection had been stable a firmware issue would seem like a possibility.
@ClaudioBa yes I noticed as well that when downgrading the firmware that the device reset to factory settings so I suggest you take a photo of the label on the base of your RUTX50 before it fades and you cannot read the default admin password anymore or like I did just add the default admin password to a plain text file and save it and anytime you need to reset the device you can just paste the password in and then apply your own password.
Could you please confirm whether these 5G SA disconnections were also present and repetitive with the earlier 7.13.4 release? From your previous description, it seemed they were, but I’d like to be certain.
To properly troubleshoot and investigate these persistent mobile disconnections, we’ll need to contact you privately. To proceed, please fill out the form that was sent to the email address you used when registering on the forum. Once submitted, we’ll reach out to you via email shortly.
To be honest I am not 100% sure, at the moment for day to day tasks I need a working connection so I decided to take the roll back recommendation and see what happens.
Sure, form submitted. I did not have a “Community support form ticket ID” for the form so I added a link to this post if that is okay.
