RUTX50 mobile antenna connectors not same

Hi,
on the RUTX50, the 4 mobile connectors for antennas seem to work different.
Yes, the manual says “connect all 4”,
but in small cabinet installations or retrofits, there is only space for 1 or 2 antennas.

We just figured out by trial and error that the 2 mobile connectors on the side with the GND screw (not the USB side) seem to be MAIN / Primary.
If you connect only 2 antenna on the USB sided ports, no signal.
If you connect same 2 antennae on the GND side, full signal.

(2x2 MIMO or similar is not needed, our use case is simple low-speed LTE/5G connection in remote places with week signal and low budget. Now, tech has to travel twice to remote site, because we could only figure this out back in the office :frowning:

Please for future: Call them Main+Aux, primary+secondary or “connect here for less then 4 antenna”, any hint in the manual or better on the device case would be great.

Yeah, now in the office, I also find the related forum post

This should be part of the product documentation, not a forum post!

In subsequent posts I have updated that the two antennas must be connected to ANT0 and ANT1

EDIT:
But it’s best to buy an external antenna with two or four SMA connectors (2x2 MIMO or 4x4 MIMO antenna). Because those omni antennas that come with the router have poor gain, so the signal is often weak with them if you are far from the base station, so you have to ban bands above 1800 MHz/B3 in the router.

I’ve been using this router for 2 and a half years, so I’ve already gone through everything with it and the antennas…
