RUTX50 internet connections constantly and device regularly freezing up

Dear All,

We installed a brand new RUTX50 connected to a new Poynting MIMO 3.17.V2 in our new mobilhome beginning 2024. The device is directly connected to a 165Ah LiFePO4 ‘home’ battery, delivering a steady 13.2 to 13.5V. The device is mounted on its side against a cupboard and both firmware/modem are fully updated. To date the event log counter stands at 1,900.
The issue we have with the device has been always the same, freezing up of the mobile connection; but it has gradually become worse over time and to date the workability is extremely reduced.
We need to regularly change from one SIM to another because the mobile connections keep freezing up. After a while, changing over SIM’s doesn’t work no more; then we’ve to reboot until, after a while, also that doesn’t work no more; next step is to disconnect and reconnect the power. But even that’s no guarantee for the router to keep its mobile connections stable and going; sometimes we have to go back to factory settings and/or disconnect the power and leave it disconnected for longer periods (multiple hours, a day) for it to work again. Not at all reliable and durable.

As suggested in one of the topics, I’ve switched off ‘network/internet connections/tracking IPv4&6’. This improved the issue somewhat but it’s absolutely not the solution to the overall issue of the mobile connection freezing up unexpectedly and regularly.

I’m now at a point where I’m wondering if the device has one or other technical default and should be sent back under warranty for repairs or to conclude that it’s not suitable for my purposes and I should look for something else.

I desperately need someone to tell me if the problems I’m having are inherent to the device? And whether the issue can be solved or not?

Another issue we have with the RUTX50 is ‘speed’. this might well be linked with our main issue of ‘mobile connections freezing up’.
We have 3 separate but equal SIM cards from a provider in our home country; one’s always in the router, the other two are in our mobiles. The second SIM in the router is one we purchase locally, locally meaning the country we are in at the time. Because of the 3 equal SIM cards it’s easy to compare the connectivity and performance (speed) of our RUTX50 to our mobiles. Theoretically the RUTX50 setup should easily outperform our two Apple mobiles (especially when they are located physically in the mobilhome - the RUTX working through the outside antennas). But on the contrary, our mobile phones never have connectivity issues and almost always deliver faster data connections.

Again, how come? What can we do?

Hello,

Regarding the issue with your mobile connection, I would like to review your device’s troubleshoot file. To do so, I have sent you a form to fill out. Once completed, I will contact you privately. For the ticket ID, please use “10466”.

Regarding the speed differences, aside from price discrepancies, there could be many factors at play. Specifically, with the iPhone, mobile phone manufacturers often use SoCs (System on Chips) manufactured by Qualcomm, which have a very different architecture compared to our devices. Additionally, these modems typically belong to higher LTE categories and can aggregate more bands simultaneously. This article provides a more detailed explanation: LTE Speed Discrepancies - Teltonika Networks Wiki.

Best regards,

Dear,
Thank you for your swift reply. Form filled out. We’ll await you further notices.
The ‘speed’ isn’t that much of an issue for us as we’re not professional users or gamers. We just mentioned it because it seemed related.
Kind regards,
