RUTX50 hang state with blinking lights

RUTx50 currently running RUTX_R_00.07.24.6 version.

Falling into a frozen state where three led light over SIM1 slot (3g/4g/5g) start to blink

In some OTHER cases, led lights over SIM2 slot (measuring signal stenght) start to blink.

The two wifi-leds are ON (and the client devices are able to see both networks) altough there´s no internet connection and it is impossible to connect to WebAdmin interface to t-shoot what´s going on.

I am using two SIMs (Vodafone and Movistar, both from spain).

Only possible solution is to unplug and power back again.

Any clues? I found this unacceptable for an industrial grade device and found more closed tickets due to timeout than solutions to this problem. Happy to share logs if this can help solve the issue.

Thanks

Download latest firmware, and reflash your device from boot loader mode. This is not same as updating from gui. Search my posts in other threads on how to do this. These devices are rock solid and work without issues if used properly. And threads are getting automatically closed because people do zero research on the issue before posting. Every week people show up in here and ask same questions over and over and over. And forum rules clearly state that no one will bother to help you if your issue is resolved but you didnt use forum search function.

Well, I can´t comment on what others are doing, but I didn´t know that updating firmware from the UI is not enough to update the firmware. I will follow your suggestion then and will report back if the issue persists. I do agree with you that this devices are rock solid (that´s the reason I spent 5 times vs consumer routers), the performance I was getting was not meeting that bar.

I will research how to update from boot loader in the forum and proceed

Thanks for your reply, I apologize for bothering

Updating from GUI is enough in most cases. But there are cases when updating from GUI from a very old firmware to the very latest causes issues. And in rare cases, updating from recent firmware can cause issues too when additional features are added or existing features under the hood get changed dramatically. Flashing from boot loader mode will remove all existing configuration, flash the latest firmware and restore factory defaults. This method is known to fix most, if not all issues everyone ever had with this device. And this the only issue this device has. However, i noticed that recent updates from GUI are working just fine. So i think Teltonika is working on making update process more smother and less risky. At least i hope.

You are not bothering, you are new to this forum. Just read the rules and RUTX50 related posts. There is a TON of useful information there.

Thanks @heartless for your comments.

I followed instructions here → RUTXxx Firmware via The Bootloader Menu - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Downloaded firmware from here → RUTX50 Firmware Downloads - Teltonika Networks Wiki

I was able to update firmware from BootLoader with success, hope everything is fine now and I won´t have furhter errors. Since this is not possible to repro, I just had to wait for the problem to happen again or live long and prosper not seeing any more issues.

Thanks for your help, have a good one!

Gerardo

If the problem comes back again, then its the hardware issue. Most likely power supply.

Well… the problem came back again this afternoon.

I am using the RUTx50 in my motorhome, so I am powering it from a 12v source connected to a brand new leisure LiFePo battery. I am using PR2FK20M cable connected to the 12v connector of the satellite antena (with I don´t have so socket is free)

Any ideas for t-shooting or suggestions about how to proceed? Thanks!

I would check the supplied voltage with multimeter. But you need to check supplied voltage under load as well, and that is a tricky part. It would be best to test the router with original power supply once you get home. This way you can rule out power supply issues.
