I’m going to say yes, BUT.
why was this suddenly an issue when I’ve had this setup for over 12 months, and travelled to many locations without issue??

I would say the issue has has been worked around by choosing networks manually. I dont understand why it would suddenly be an issue after a year of using “Auto”, even in remote / poor signal locations.
Hi there,
no feedback. Are you disappointed, did I say anything wrong?
I’m still about to make it work. Don’t want to spend another couple 100 bucks for something else, which then in real live also will have it’s issues.
Did you confront your developers with my Nighthawk experience?
Hoping for your reply.

Betreff: AW: AW: Regarding issue with mobile connection
Hi there, here is my feedback …
Firmware didn’t bring any change as far as I tested. Just let me be precise; the environment is pretty sub urban, but an old Android phone is able to establish a decent internet connection, without any extra effort, no antenna no nothing. A German Telekom SIM works with above 250mbps. SIM24, partially based on Vodafone does not.
I tried switching of VoLTE and selected bands manually etc., but no success.
Yesterday I had a Nighthawk M3 in my hands and guess what? Just inserted SIM24, password and seconds later I had internet. Not really fast, but still aorund50mbps or so.
Looks like I spend a thousand bucks for the wrong product, next to the fact that WiFi catching (which was one of the key arguments) for captive portals still seems to work only rudimentary.
Any other chance to make it work?
Before I leave, your support is great and really appreciated, one of the very positive things next to the technical issues
Cheers
Walter
can I hijack this conversation for a “captive portal” discussion?
Tried to connect to 3 different captive portal protected access points. Before I tested with a regular Iphone and as soon as I connected and raised the first http reuest, the captive portal popped up, fine, right?
Connecting through RUTX50 is different; I could connect to the WiFi, but in none of the cases the CP popped up. Yes, I marked “forward captive portal” for this connection.
Testing is a bit difficult as I don’t have so many CP access point in my neighbourhood, but …
using a Fritzbox 7590 guest acces will create what they call a welcome page with a checkbox for general terms, which to me looks like a CP.
Captive portal protection is the new norm, almost all public WiFi, espacially at camp grounds, ar nowadays under CP. So the simple and oldfashioned WiFi catching is no longer a big added value nor differentiator.
Any idea how to manage?
