RUTX50 Firmware Request - Packages

Someone experienced a missing package, the samba server, i’m assuming with firmware 07.07.1 and or 2.

The user wasn’t able to plug in and set up a connected USB Drive as a network share.

I’m assuming the package was removed from the firmware to free up space, or it was decided that nobody or very few people were using the feature any more.

I personally will never use the majority of pre-installed packages such as modbus and the various VPN’s, and i won’t be the only one.

How about introducing a one click or tap option to download and install packages wanted and uninstall packages not needed or used.

I’m getting the impression that installing a missing package is a painful process.

Hello,

Let’s remember that our routers are industrial routers first. Modbus and various VPNs are the most commonly used features and can be considered core functionalities. And you can install or remove packages with a single click in the System → Package Manager → Packages section.

Best regards,

Thank you Marijus,

Not found that page previously and therefore didn’t know it was there, and i haven’t seen anybody referring to its existence on the forum until now.

Hi,

I’m glad I could help! If you have any other questions, as usual, feel free to reach out.
