RUTX50 - External antena

Hello,

I have RUTX50 and an external antena poynting 3-v2-17. I have all the wifi connexion from the router link to the antena. The router is installed inside of the campervan and the antena in the exterior.

Now I am trying to a wifi webcam (google nest). However I am not able to make it working with the 5ghz wifi (the signal is fine, but it doesnt work). I am trying to connect it to the 2.4ghz, but the signal for this wifi is very very poor.

My question is: I want to external antena to improve the mobile signal and I want broadcast the connexion inside of the van with wifi connexion. Do I disconnect the wifi connexion to the external antena and connect the wifi connexion to the antena that the router is coming? Thank you.

Hello,

Yes, in your case, you can disconnect the Poynting antenna’s WiFi connectors and connect the default WiFi antennas that come with the router.

Additionally, ensure the following for optimal performance:

  • Set the transmit power for both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies to 100% in Network → Wireless → Radio settings.
  • Select the most optimal channels for your area. This is particularly important in crowded places where interference from other APs might be strong.

If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Kind regards, and happy upcoming holidays!
