RUTX50 don't start / no access

Hello,

I have a RUTX50.

All the LEDs are on as soon as it’s powered on.

The reset button doesn’t work, no matter how many seconds I press it.

I also can’t access the bootloader menu.

Is there any way to reset it, or is it defective?

Thank for help.

Greetings,

Please follow the instructions to update the device’s firmware via the bootloader menu. This is a last resort recovery option, and it is used to differentiate between software and hardware problems. In essence, the bootloader is a safety net, providing a reliable method to restore the functionality of the device when other troubleshooting steps have failed: RUTX50 Device Recovery Options - Teltonika Networks Wiki

If possible, try using a different power supply. The device’s input voltage range is 9 – 50 VDC

And if after that it still doesn’t work.It is a hardware issue, and you should proceed with the RMA procedure, for warranty repairs. If you purchased through a vendor, please contact them for further assistance with the RMA procedure. Here you can find more information about it: RMA - Teltonika Networks Wiki

If you have bought the device directly from us, then contact us through HelpDesk or contact your sales manager.

I recommend mentioning the serial number in the first message when you contact the vendor or us, so it saves you some time.

Best Regards,
Justinas

Hi Justinas,

Thank you so much for your help.

I can’t access the bootloader menu. We’ve also tried different power supplies.

But nothing works, so it’s very likely a hardware defect.

With my RUTX50 and a Windows PC, I have to follow the process below. If I don’t, then even with all the LED’s flashing, indicating the device is in bootloader mode, the PC won’t connect. Give the below a try ….

Bootloader process with Windows PC ….

Irrespective of the router’s current IP address, the bootloader process will always use the router address of 192.168.1.1

1. download onto the PC, the firmware and any backup you want to restore

2. unplug router (power)

3. turn off PC’s WiFi (if it has it) and plug a network cable into the PC and the LAN1 port on router – ensure that the PC is the only device connected to the router

4. in PC’s IPv4 properties, for the network ethernet adapter, set IP address = 192.168.1.3, Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0, Default gateway = 192.168.1.1, Preferred DNS server = 192.168.1.1

5. reboot PC, and then sign into Windows

6. hold down reset button, plug in router (power), maintain holding the reset button for 5 seconds, then release

7. all LED’s on the router should now be flashing

8. open up browser and enter the URL of 192.168.1.1

9. you should now be presented with the bootloader page

10. browse to, or drag and drop, the firmware file for upload

11. once everything comes back OK, change the PC’s IPv4 properties to get all its properties from the router via DHCP etc.

Let us know how you get on.

Hello Mike,

We’ve tried the steps several times. Also with various power supplies.

But in step 7, the lights don’t blink; they stay on constantly, and the router is never pingable or accessible via the web.

Therefore, we suspect a defect.

Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,

thanks for your help.

After some tinkering, it’s working again.

I did one last test and got into the bootloader menu and can now use the router again.

Thanks and have a nice day!
