Thank you for the information.
While the signal isn’t great, it’s also not too bad to disconnect from it. I’d suggest trying to disable the LTE band 28, and checking if the behavior is still present. Instructions on how to blacklist bands can be found here: Band Lock - Teltonika Networks Wiki
I’d also suggest moving the device as close to the window facing the cell tower as possible. This might help the device stay on 5G.
Best regards,
Thanks Daumantas
Im really not concerned about the signal, its the fact that it locks to 4G (maybe when signal gets bad). Restarting does not get it back to 5G, i have to toggle between auto and 4G+5G setting to get it back to 5G.
I know the signal is not great but I have a tall antenna pole and a Poynting A-XPOL Version 2 5G LTE 4x4 MIMO-Antenn on my roof because im in the outer region of 5G coverage here.
Thanks for your help
Hello,
Since in the 5G NSA it is not possible to “force” the device to use the 5G band, there is not much that we can do here from the router side.
Perhaps you could provide a link to the exact antenna that you are using?
Best regards,
ok I think i understand but its weird that it goes 4G even when restarting, but toggling settings makes it go 5G…
The antenna is the Poynting omni directional 4x4 mimo A-XPOL-0001-V2-41
Can you explain why I should disable Lte band 28? I cant find black list instructions but only band selection.
Thanks
Hello,
To explain it simply, the modem “learns” the most stable combination of bands to use, and by setting it to use a different network mode it “forgets” what it learned before, that’s why the device connects to 5G again.
What I meant by blacklist, is selecting ALL LTE bands except the B28. This is more of a troubleshooting step to check if the router would stay on n78, rather than an actual solution, but it’s worth checking.
Best regards,
Thanks @Daumantas much appreciated.
I cant find any info on the mobile ports in the instructions.
My omnidirectional Ponting antenna 4x4 mimo antenna A-XPOL-0001-V2-41 has the following cables marked:
Cell 1 Main
Cell 2 Main
Cell 1 AUX/DIV
Cell 2 AUX/DIV
What cable goes where and does it matter?

Hello,
In your case, the antenna should be connected like so:
As the outer two antennas are mainly responsible for low and mid band frequencies, while the inner two are for 4x4 MIMO and n78 5G band. Let me know if the signal improves at all.
Best regards,
Thanks for the info.
I did not see a change in signal strength.
However upload is now about 100Mbps with ping around 14-15, used to be 30-40Mbps and ping 30.
Download is the same at around 300Mbps.
I did “blacklist” B28 but i lost signal and then the router started bugging and “loading”…and went unresponsive. Took a while to get it back to Auto and now it works.
Cheers
Hello,
Signal strength most likely wouldn’t be affected by switching the antennas, but MIMO might have better conditions for operation.
Glad to hear about the increased speeds!
Best regards,
Hello.
I have made some astonishing discovery’s today. The RutX50 is very slow and refuses to connect to 5G SA. 1000mbit down on iPhone 14 pro sam SIM card in router 300 down and can’t find 5G SA. I have spoken to the mobile operator and they swear that they don’t shape the traffic for routers. This is something that I really need help with.
Did any users here connect to pure 5G SA with Telenor in Sweden? Could this be e regional issue with the router?
Orre
Hello,
From what I found online, Telenor does not use SA in their public network. If this is wrong, please create a separate thread, as this issue is a little different.
Best regards,
Sorry yes I will create a new thread.
It was careless to write SA, I honestly don’t know if they do SA, but download figures would be proof enough something is fishy…
Hi again,
My router now refuses to go 5G at home both with antenna on roof and with the antenna that comes with th router. Both my Cellphone and the Netgear M5 does 5G in the middle of the house with no Antennas. I have done factory reset.
Its not true you cant force the device to use the 5G band in NSA, my cell phone does that and my Netgear M5 5g does switch between bands 4G and 5G. Please explain this is getting really annoying.
Hello,
Could you clarify what you mean about forcing the bands? What I meant, is that if the device does not connect to 5G on it’s own, it is not possible to configure it to. Once it is connected, you can manage what bands are being used and whitelist certain ones.
As for the lack of 5G, ensure your network mode is set to 4G + 5G (or Auto), and all of the bands are allowed. If the device still does not connect, try switching the network mode from Auto to 4G+5G or the other way around and check if it connects then.
Best regards,
Hello Daumantas, thanks for your persistence.
Again I am comparing the RutX50 with my other 5G router and mobile phone that strives to connect to 5G when possible, they switch bands on their own. I can not understand why this is not possible with the Rutx50 and I have to switch between 4G+5G and auto. And yes I discovered early that switching between Auto and 4G+5G will sometimes go from 4G to 5G.By my mind that’s unbearable in professional situations using the router on remote sites. This just does not work with my use cases for enterprise usage. Yes we could live with 4G for some periods but having to toggle between the settings is not very sustainable from a support and maintenance perspective…
Hello,
That is understandable. My main suspicion currently is that the modem is checking what configuration of bands is the best to use, and after some time it should settle on 5G. Have you tried leaving the router without making any changes for a few days?
Without exchanging additional private information, or arranging a remote session it’s hard to say what is causing this behavior.
Best regards,
Hello
Well what do you know, I have not touched the settings for a few days and now it’s 5G again without toggling. It’s strange that it took a few days for it to choose 5G. Again phone and Netgear M5 does 5G right away. Think you need to tweak this a bit for 7.5. Also very disappointing I only get 300Mbit/s in perfect conditions where phone and Netgear M5 does 1000Mbit/s…
