[RUTX50] Bug with internal modems data received / sent

On my Rutx50 with firmware RUTX_R_00.07.19.4 the statistic of the data received / sent at “/status/network/mobile” is sometimes decreasing. I did not find an exact cause, but it happened several times the last days.

Edit: I wrote a small script to check every minute the traffic of the internal modem and it happened again. I did not change any configuration of the router during that minute:

INFO - Modem: Internal modem (ID: 2-1) | Total RX: 9.08 GB, Total TX: 1.83 GB | Change RX: +N/A, Change TX: +N/A
ERROR - → RX traffic DECREASED for Internal modem! Previous: 9081792450, Current: 9077732401
ERROR - → TX traffic DECREASED for Internal modem! Previous: 1833087742, Current: 1831952442

EDIT2: It seems to happen about every 60 to 61 minutes.

Hello,

Could you please check on your device how things are looking under
Status → Realtime Data → Mobile usage?

Say you were to refresh the page every few minutes or so, do the numbers also decrease here? Unfortunately for me, but I don’t seem to be having the same issue, could you perhaps tell me how you were initially monitoring this without the script you wrote? Are you certain that you are not taking a certain time frame that takes, let’s say, the last 5 minutes or so, which in essence would make sense that the data usage decreases since you might’ve not used as much data in the last 5 minutes as in the next 5, or vice versa (sounds a bit complicated).

M.

Thank you for your reply. Here are some details:

  • Initially I just looked at the /status/network/mobile tab on the web interface and took screenshots and there the numbers decreased (sometimes).
  • Then I used the script that just runs every minute and uses the rxbytes and txbytes of /modems/status using the API, with the result I provided.

Looking at the tab you suggested, I reloaded that page every minute and saved the page to a file (I selected as timeframe total, as this seems to match with the numbers from the modem status). During that I was again running my script to see if the error on the /modems/status via API happens again (and then to check on the tab you suggested). Sometimes I exported the CSV as well.

Results:
When my script showed the error (again about every hour). The first time I didn’t catch the page, but the second time I was able to get the traffic statistics and even an csv export before and after the error occurred. What I found is that the received and sent of the day two days ago decreased on the tab you suggested (also reflected in the exported csv file).

EDIT: Firmware as mentioned is RUTX_R_00.07.19.4, firmware of the internal modem is RG501QEUAAR12A11M4G, kernel version is 6.6.108.

EDIT2: It seems not to happen every hour. Next time it happened around 95 minutes after the last time, again the traffic of two days ago was “reduced”.

EDIT3: Fun fact: later the traffic of the day two days ago is again higher (can’t verify if it is the original value). And on the next day the game continues with the day two days ago of that day (so it seems to be always the same distance to the current day, e.g. on the 15th of January the traffic of the 13th “reduces”).

Hello,

I’ve tried different ways of reproducing this but wasn’t able to no matter how I tried. I’d like to collect the logs & a troubleshoot file from you if possible, and for that, we’d have to move to a different communication channel. I’ve sent you a form to fill out, which you’ll receive in your e-mail inbox that your forum account is registered on. In the Ticket ID field, fill out the thread’s ID, which is 17323
