Rutx50 becomes unreachable after "restore to defaults"

I’ve had it a couple of times already that after resetting a Rutx50 or Rutx09 to factory defaults, it becomes unreachable. In the past, when I executed the factory defaults (either form WUI or CLI), it came back online at the 192.168.1.1 ip address. But in recent firmwares this is no longer the case. Also a poweroff/poweron after the factory reset, does not bring back the device. Only thing that works is resetting it from a hardware perspective by holding the pin/reset button. Some Rutx devices are in challenging environments, making it very difficult to reach it physically. The most recent firmware on the device was the latest (RUTX_R_00.07.05.4).

Hi,

Thank you for contacting us.

Request to set a static IP in the following manner:

If the web UI remains inaccessible, proceed with the bootloader.

Can you check this link?

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hi Mamhoud,

Thanks for your reply. I’m well aware of the restore options. Problem is that some device are in hard to reach locations. So being able to recover a device via the build in 192.168.1.1 ip is crucial. Is it a known issue that sometimes the Rutx devices won’t boot up correctly (with 192.168.1.1) after giving it a factory default from WUI or CLI?

Leon

Hi Leon,

The default IP for Rutx after recovery is 192.168.1.1

Thanks,
Mahmoud

Hi Mahmoud,

You are missing the point I’m trying to make. Again:

“Is it a known issue that sometimes the Rutx devices won’t boot up correctly (with 192.168.1.1) after giving it a factory default from WUI or CLI?”

Leon
