This is the third RUTX50 that gets bricked after modem upgrade that for some reasons fails. To be fair, it’s worked on the other dozens we’ve upgraded but common for the failed ones is that they seem to be early batch.
Are there any plans to simply release the modem firmware update image? I tried calling the support and they referred me to the portal to create a ticket. I see now that ticket creation is only meant for direct consumers to webshop.
Firstly, I wanted to clarify. You are mentioning that you have successfully performed modem upgrade for other devices but it bricked these ones. Can you advise me if you did anything different in the process? Also, can you elaborate on the process you do to perform the upgrade.
Can you also advise what state the device is now? Are the lights flashing?
I also wanted to see if a bootloader reset would fix your issue. This unique feature allows you to perform firmware update and reflash the device, which can potentially resolve the issue. Instructions on how to do so : RUTX50 Device Recovery Options - Teltonika Networks Wiki
Can you also advise me of the Product code for the device. If you are able to switch it on, you can find in WEBUI Status → System. If not, this information should be in your purchase documents.
I do want to advise that for this issue we may need to get into private communication, as sensitive data may be shared. I will inform when and if that is necessary.
Thanks for the prompt reply. I have followed the recovery steps. The modem is in EDL modemm (:9008) so it should be able to resurrect with proper firmware image and e.g. qflash if these could be shared.
I did nothing differently. Did a GUI update to latest stable release and the accepted the propsal to update modem.
I currently don’t have access to the device as I am at home but I have the serial and IMEI through RMS portal.
I am willing to pay for the repair but have so far not been successful in finding where to proceed.
One thing that sticks out, is the procedure you have followed, as with a lot of our devices, we have a very specific procedure to follow, via SSH connection to the device, and there are factors to be considered for the process to succeed, like having another internet connection, like wired wan, when performing the upgrade. Later on if needed, I will share the procedure. I will want you to do a bootloader reset as above, to at least check if you can now revive the device.
Not sure on the part on sticking out. I mean we downloaded applied the latest firmware to the device which was successful. Once updated the device itself proposed to update the modem to a later version. This is where things went sideways.
I just redid the bootloader restoration which was successful. However I am still met with the “Modem unreachable” and the lights are flashing. Logging in via SSH and running modem_updater -s shows that the modem is in EDL mode.
To assist you further, we would need to proceed to private communication, as it will require us exchanging sensitive data.
I have sent you a form for private communication, please fill in the form, and in ticket ID provide this query ID which is 15265. This form should arrive to your personal email address used to register to this site.
