RUTX50 and Zerotier private root server

I created a private Zerotier root server (planet). Because it has another address, I need to copy a new “planet” file into the router, which should be persistent. I only find a “planet” file under /tmp/lib/zerotier-one_21d72bd151_2#. But it is overwritten when I switch the interface off and on (which has to be expected for a temp file).
Where is the proper location for this file?

Hello,

The correct path will be /var/lib/zerotier-one. Additionally, there is a helpful post on the ZeroTier forum that might assist you in your case: ZeroTier RutOS custom planet - #2 by adekker - Community Support - ZeroTier Discussions.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Best regards,

Hi Marija,
Thank you for your answer. I saw this post too. But unfortunately, zerotier-one only seems to be a “link” (forgive me, I am a Linux noob) to the temp directory. So, the content is deleted when I switch the instance off and on

To clarify, I was referring to the /var directory, not /tmp. The correct path for files that must persist beyond reboots is /var/lib/zerotier-one.

I trust this clears up any confusion.

Should you encounter any further issues or have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

I think I know now where the problem is. I am automatically redirected into a tmp directory when I try to select the directory you mentioned (see picture).
How can I reach the correct directory?

I apologize for any confusion earlier. The var path also contains temporary files.

I have reached out to our RnD team regarding this matter and will get back to you as soon as I receive any updates from them.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

@sensorsiot Hello,

At the moment, it is not possible to add a custom planet file to the configuration in a way that persists after ZeroTier restarts or device reboots.

However, our R&D department has recognized this as a valuable feature and is planning to implement it in the upcoming v7.13 firmware release. This update will include the option to upload a file directly via the WebUI, enabling the use of custom ZeroTier servers. At this time, we cannot provide a specific release date for this firmware.

We appreciate your patience and for bringing this suggestion to our attention. We hope the upcoming v7.13 firmware will meet your needs when it becomes available.

Kind Regards,
