Rutx50 and poe switch

Hey guys,

im using a Rutx50 router with poynting epnt-4 via poe injector and ethernet switch atm. The built looks like following:

Poe injector —> rutx50 —> non poe switch —> pc/tv

Both, the poe injector and the non poe switch needs energy, place and cables. Is it possibile to replace them with only a poe switch?

Would look like:

Poe switch —> energy to rutx50 —> data back to poe switch (same cable) —> pc/tv

Im just wondering if it would work to bring the energy to the rutx50 and data back and split at the same time? Would be like a poe injector with 2 lan slots instead just one. (which I cant find anywhere)

But usually the 4 port poe switches have 5 slots, 1 for router and 4 for cameras, wifi access point etc. I have no idea if the router slot gives energy too or if it would work if use the router on one of the 4 poe slots? Im a bit lost with this after 2h of google‘ing.

Greetings

It’s very important to understand the RUTX50 does NOT support 802.3af or 802.3at etc type standard which is 48+ volts. RUTX50 POE only supports passive 24 volt. You should have read the RUTX50 Powering Options

There are no issues powering the RUTX50 from a Network switch with Passive 24 POE. Ubiquiti is but one manufacturer that makes passive compatible switches. Ubiquiti also make POE adapters, small boxes the size of a cigarette packet, power in one end, two(2) ethernet ports other end, one as POE and one LAN port. POE port to the RUTX50 (LAN 1 only), LAN port to the other network device, Laptop, PC other network switch etc
