RUTX50 5G problems

Running a x50 with the latest firmware, carrier is o2-de, 5g is available with the data sim.

But with band selection on auto and the router on 5g/4g/3g it will use 4g with an abysmal 1mbps.

But if I switch to manual band selection, disable all but one not available 4g band it will use 5g at a speed of 75mbps. Puzzling.

Mobile phone with same carrier has no issues, but that one uses a different SIM.

Also I wonder why I can’t setup 5g only. And why I am forced to select at least one 4g and umts band in manual mode.

Hello,

This depends on the base station that your router is connected to. If the carrier in the base station is not capable of SA 5G technology you won’t be able to setup 5G only.
However, you can overcome this with manual intervention.

Hi,

thanks for the information, that explains the observed behavior. But the solution is somewhat finicky, it would be really neat if the firmware could get some sort of 5G preferred feature to solve this issue without resorting to scripting and/or do location specific configuration.
