Hi I just bought a RUTX14 for my camper van and I’m wondering if I need to use the input output pins that come with the plug if I’m just using it as a router. My plan is to cut the plug lead and wire it straight into my 12v panel using the + and - pins. if I cut away the green and white (input/output) wires will this affect the unit or will it run fine. If someone can share a bit of knowledge that would be much appreciated.
Hi…
Take a look at

Hi Marcelo. Thank you for sharing those links that’s very helpful! just to double check so long as my supply is reliable and stays at a constant voltage it will be fine to just use the red and black + - and get rid of the input output would you agree? Sorry this isn’t my area of work so it would be nice to get someone who has a good knowledge of this equipment to say “yes it will run fine” lol.
Thanks again
Hi…
Yes… You just need to use the positive and the negative of your power cable. Don’t need to worry about data in or data out.
Do you have a multimeter? Have one, is always a good idea to do the double check.
And… don’t forget…
" If you decide not to use the standard 9 VDC wall adapter and want to power the device from a higher voltage (15-50 VDC), please make sure that you choose a power supply of high quality. Some power supplies can produce voltage peaks significantly higher than the declared output voltage, especially during connection and disconnection. "
okay?
