RUTX14 LTE modem failure

My router constantly loses LTE connection. Firmware RUTX_R_00.07.10.2. Quectel EG12-EA modem firmware version: EG12EAPAR01A09M4G_01.001.01.001. Update available, but not allowed due to missing LTE connection. WAN port has internet.

Signal LTE B7(when modem switches on):

Hello,

If your router has a wired WAN connection, it should be able to upgrade the modem’s firmware using the modem_updater tool.

Could you confirm if the SSHFS package is installed on your router? If not, please install it via System → Package Manager. Once installed, you can proceed to update the modem firmware through an SSH connection. Use the following command to update the firmware to your desired version: modem_updater -v <VERSION>

Replace <VERSION> with the desired firmware version, such as EG12EAPAR01A15M4G_01.201.01.201.

Hello,

Based on the logs, the issue appears to be related to the sshfs mounting process. The timeout error suggests that your ISP may indeed be interfering with the sshfs communication required for the update process.

In this case, I’ve sent you a form to fill out. For the ticket ID, please use “10591”. Once submitted, we’ll contact you privately and provide an alternative method for updating the modem firmware.

Hello,

Could you please confirm the firmware version to which you updated the RUTX14 modem? Additionally, did the firmware upgrade complete successfully without any errors?

To help resolve the issue, could you try installing the SSHFS package through the WebUI by navigating to System → Package Manager? Before proceeding, please ensure that the router has a wired WAN connection.

Once the SSHFS package is installed, connect to the router’s CLI and execute the following commands:

opkg update && opkg install modem_updater;
modem_updater -g – check the current modem firmware version;
modem_updater -v <version> – upgrade the modem firmware to the latest version available on the server.

I confirm the firmware version of my RUTX14: RUTX_R_00.07.11
SSHFS package - already installed
opkg update && opkg install modem_updater - done

It was necesary a reboot of the router and everything working fine (see below).
