SMS messages were set to enabled but the message log shows no recent messages. I have turned off SMS rules now. I’ll monitor the status and post back later this week.
These issues started roughly 1~ month ago on this RUTX12 which was placed on-site at one of our customers. The RUTX12 would become unresponsive and would require a manual power cycle to return to normal operation. We wouldn’t be able to access the web interface through LAN or remotely.
The RUX12 is currently being powered by a 24W adapter with model: ASSA67E-120200. I have just checked and we also have a similar power supply with model: SJ-12020044, I’ll try using this and see if this fixes the issue.
Ping/Wget Reboot & Reboot Scheduler are turned off. I have also disabled SMS Utilities as mentioned by Florit. Unless there’s any other default settings that could cause a reboot there should be nothing else triggering them.
I will monitor the situation with the swapped out Power Supply and see if it stays online and functional.
I’ve not had any “Device startup after unexpected shutdown” messages or lock-ups of the RUT. Network events do still show the Modem dropping and regaining connectivity. Other units don’t seem to exhibit these events.
Apologies for the delay. I wanted to check whether the issue with this RUTX12 is still ongoing and if it continues to reboot unexpectedly.
If so, could you please share a few additional details:
How many services (VPNs, data to cloud, Modbus, etc.) are running on the unit when the reboot occurs?
Do you notice unusually high CPU utilization before or during the shutdowns?
Can you test using the original uninterrupted 18 W 4-pin power supply that comes with the router?
In what kind of environment is the device operating? Are there any possible vibrations or movements that might cause the power connector pins to loosen?
For testing, it would also be worth flashing the latest stable or newest firmware, preferably without keeping settings, to ensure a clean installation.
If the issue persists, and only this particular unit experiences random power losses among several identical RUTX devices, it might indicate a hardware related fault.
I’m still currently running into issues with the RUTX12.
There are no services running on the RUTX12 and not connected to any devices unless I’m connected through one of the LAN ports to monitor check the current status.
CPU usage of the system seems to be normal but I’ve not been actively monitoring
I don’t have any other powersupplies outside of the two mentioned above. Using the other PSU still results in the same issue.
The RUTX12 has been removed from a customer site and is currently on a desk at our office.
I will flash the unit to the new firmware and reset the configuration and see if it continues to do display the same behaviour.
If the issue still persists after flashing the latest stable firmware without keeping settings, and you continue to notice the device rebooting irregularly or randomly, please let me know here so we can investigate this unusual behavior more in depth through a private communication channel.
