RUTX11 MODBUS query - is the WIKI correct please?

Happy 2026 guys!

I am integrating my RUT X11 Router via Modbus over OpenVPN so I can monitor its status centrally in Home Assistant. Once I have a working config I am happy with I will share back with the community here.

the wiki at:

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTX11_Modbus#Modbus_Registers

tells me the unit of measurement is 0.1 Celsius

the X11 reports its temperature as 240 which if I multiply by 0.1 is 24C

Well inside my vehicle (on the driveway where it hasn’t moved for a few days) it’s currently around 2.4C! (outside temperature 2.2C)

So can I check please:

A) is the Wiki incorrect ? and its actually measuring in 0.01 (which would make the current van temperature about right) , or

B) Is it actually measuring the Router CPU temperature? not the ambient enclosure temperature ? for which 24 C could be a reasonable figure ? but my gut feel is a little low ?

Many thanks in advance

Regards

BB

Also - a bit of a pedantic observation perhaps ? - but the modbus RSSI is stated in the wiki as being in dBm whereas its actually in -dBm (minus dBm)

an actual RSSI of +78 dBm (if my maths is correct) represents an RF signal level of 63KW which I fear, would destroy the front end of the Modem !

Hello,

The Wiki is correct, it is measured in 0.1 celsius

It is measuring the temperature of the mobile module that is on the PCB of the device, 24C is reasonable, mine, for example, is 44 celsius on idle.

Not sure I understood this one right, but everywhere I looked, the values themselves have a “-” in front of them, where as the measuring unit “dBm” does not, due to the fact that the number already has the negative sign.

Many thanks for the clarification Matas, I have re-labelled and re-scaled the outputs in home assistant to give good values

Reference the RSSI value - my bad - I should have made it clearer and in honesty, my observation was a little “tongue in cheek” .

the wiki states that the unit of measurement is dBm

but the value returned to Home Assistant from the X11 was a positive value of “78” not “-78”.

-78 dBm is a valid signal level (I would expect to see around -45dBm if I placed the X11 antenna against the base station transmitter housing)

but +78dBm I calculated to be an RF signal of about 63KW !

Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. It’s weird, since on the WebUI, under Status → Network → Mobile the signal values shown are okay (by okay, I mean that they’re shown with a “-” in front of them).
