RUTX11 How should 'Sim switch' work?

Can anyone please help explain how ‘switch to next SIM’ should function, within SIM switch configuration?

Specifically, does it switch after a weak signal or network outage has occurred?
Is the delay measured from when the SIM first becomes active, or after the weak signal?

More context:

I assume I can set SIM2 to switch after a delay of, say, 60 mins after which the router will try SIM1 again. If the SIM1 network is not available it will failover to SIM2 once more. I assume an endless failover, SIM1->SIM2->SIM1->SIM2…

I have one main SIM1 and a backup SIM2 on a different network. I’d like to switch to SIM2 on network failures, and return to SIM1 when it has recovered.

How best can I have the router switch back from SIM2 to SIM1, at least to try again?

Hello,

The Switch to next SIM after delay function means the device will switch to the next SIM after the delay time you set has passed (after saving and applying the configuration). For example, if you set the delay to 5 minutes, press Save & Apply, the device will switch to the next SIM after 5 minutes.

If you want to switch from SIM1 to SIM2 when SIM1 doesn’t have an internet connection and the ping to the internet fails, I suggest configuring a failover. You can specify mob1s1a1 as the main WAN and mob1s2a1 as the backup WAN. This way, when SIM1 loses connection, the device will switch to SIM2, and once SIM1 regains connectivity, it will switch back.
