RutX11 captive not working

Hi guys,

I`ve updated my rut on the latest FW 07.06. and found the thread about connecting to a hotspot which requires Captive portal to accept t&c.
So, “redirect captive portal”is on , also rebind DNS protection is off.
Also get an IP from the camping.
But landing page from ca ping is not coming up.
Any idea, what I can do?

Hello Thomas,

Have you tried following the configuration here on the Teltonika wiki page? (Connecting to a Hotspot WiFi for Internet Connectivity - Teltonika Networks Wiki)

I tried doing testing on my side on RUTX11 running the FW 07.06 and connected it to an existing captive portal WiFi network and it works just fine.

Note that my setup is similar to the wiki article where another Teltonika router has a captive portal to which my RUTX11 is connected.

I’d recommend doing/checking the ff below:

• updating the firmware again to 07.06 without keeping the settings to ensure you will have freshly installed firmware.
• Make sure no conflicts on IP addressing.

Hi Robert,

Thx for your fast reply.
Setup the Rut now again, without keeping data.
But it doesnt work. Im getting an IP from the camping, but the page won`t be redirected to the landing page, where I have to accept T&C.
I setup everything which is written in the link you mentioned above.
Any other idea?

Hello Thomas,

Can you clarify that if a PC/laptop or a mobile phone is connected to the RUTX11 access point, it is not getting a notification or redirection to a captive portal landing page from the hotspot source?

Note that only clients connected to the RUTX11 will get redirected to the captive portal page and not the RUTX11 itself.

For example, above, the ‘RUTX11’ interface is where we configured the ‘Redirect captive portal’, then the RUT955 is where the clients will connect to.

Before upgrading to the latest FW version, does the same setup work on your end before?

Hi Robert,

I`ve the following constellation, where “Ferienpark” is the wifi from the camping site which requires to accept T&C, and Rut is my accesspoint.

Here the settings for “Ferienpark”

Here is the screenshot, where I see, that the camping site is not online, due to not accepted the T&C on their landing page.

This is the first FW where I tested the new feature with redirect capture.
Before that I had a workaround, where I set the DNS from the camping site manually to RUT and my mobile. Sometimes it worked and then it redirected to the landing page, sometimes not.
Now it`s also not working.
