RUTX11 cannot update modem 3

Continued from:

I would like to have the dangerous update path for the modem please.

Hi harre,

Before proceeding with the modem firmware upgrade, can you share the log file first when you try to insert the sim card on the device. Run logread -f command on the CLI then insert the sim to see realtime logs.

Regards,

I firstly inserted into SIM1 nothing happened, and after that I inserted in SIM2 nothing else happened

Looks like modem is not responsive. A system reboot may be required.
root@RUTX11:/mnt/update#

Apparently the updater wanted the path of the folder containing “update” adjusting the command yielded this response:

root@RUTX11:/mnt# modem_updater -i 3-1 -p /mnt

Looks like modem is not responsive. A system reboot may be required.

I got it to connect to the mobile network but then the device disappeared.

Seems in the dmesg that the modem keeps getting disconnected/reconnected.

Is this some hardware issue, sadly my router is out of warranty?

Hi harre,

If your device is no longer covered by warranty, did you try to follow the steps in the guide Teltonika RUTX device: Modem Firmware Recovery.pdf?

The USB connection is flapping. It would be preferable not to keep the device powered on as it looks like the modem is constantly restoring and this could ruin it.

Are you happy to run the following command gsmctl -A AT+QPRTPARA=4 and post here the output?

No output on that command

root@RUTX11:~# gsmctl AT+QPRTPARA=4
root@RUTX11:~#

the usb connection have been flappy for over a year, I have tried getting help for some time but it’s quite slow when it’s not covered by warranty any more.

There is no output because you have to add the modem command -A:
gsmctl -A AT+QPRTPARA=4

Moreover, the command modem_updater -i 3-1 -p /mnt which is what you used is not going to force the firmware flashing.

I suggest you to flash the firmware as detailed here: Teltonika RUTX device: Modem Firmware Recovery.pdf

I suggest you to contact Quectel to get the firmware EG06ELAR04A20M4G which is the latest release supported by Teltonika for RUTX11 as described in the pdf. You have to adhere to the steps in the guide and the modem will likely be detected again. I am unsure if this will also solve the flapping USB connection.
