RUTX11 0.7.8 > 0.7.8.2 - DHCP server not starting?

Hi Guys

running a RUT X11 and all has been well for some time until i upgraded to 0.7.8.2

I have IPV4 enabled, IPV6 disabled , after the upgrade, no clients can connect - no dhcp response from the X11.

I am assuming that the DHCP service is handled by odhcpd ?

the service shows as “active with no instances”

service list |grep dhcp
/etc/init.d/odhcpd enabled stopped

thus far all attempts to restart the service are failing

Where are the logfiles for this service stored please ?

what steps do you suggest to diagnose please ?

BB

7.02.8 is very old FW  Update to 7.08.2

typo ! thanks - post edited 0.7.8 to 0.7.8.2

Hi,

Can you try to run this command /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart to restart dhcp service in the router? Let me know the logs shown.

Regards,

Hola Janmiguel!

Sure

/etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart
udhcpc: started, v1.34.1
udhcpc: broadcasting discover
udhcpc: no lease, failing

Hi,

Is there any DHCP server existing in your end device (i,e, Wifi)? You can enable Force option under Network → DHCP → Advanced Settings. I have a RUTX11 here running on the same FW and DHCP is working as expected.

Regards,

by “end device” do you mean WiFi / LAN clients ?

in which case definitely there is not

Forced was not enabled, but now it is so I will try it

OK, this immediately fixed the LAN problem, but only partially resolved
the Guest Wifi . I at least got an IP address but no default gateway was
assigned nor was a DNS server.

I added these additional options to the forced menu for the guest network
advanced config (image for those with the same issue trying to replicate
my actions:)

Disconnected the client and reconnected .

So far, very slow to resolve DHCP on windows 10 (like 10 seconds)
and about 1 in 5 connections I see an IP but “no internet”

the question remains though - why do I need to force ? flaw or feature?

Also the GUI lies on 2 counts about my Guest network !

Another “Product enhancement opportunity” Perhaps ?

Hi,

Actually the issue is still unclear as I have created a guest network. But under LAN section, it is showing Status: up. Once I connect to that guest network, my phone was able to get an IP within 192.168.20.1/24 subnet.

Have you tried it on a fresh configuration?

Regards,

I have yet to wipe the box and try it on a fresh config
as it is the only present servicable spare.

However, the guest network is radiating and I get both DHCP success and internet access
with clients

But as per the previous picture, the GUI reports the guest network as DOWN when it is up , and wired when it is wireless

[NEXT DAY EDIT] I also notice that your guest network is configured as a bridge , I assume to LAN ? This I wanted to avoid. Guest traffic has WAN access but to no other zone [/EDIT]
