How to use RUTX10 to transfer the data over PROFINET ?
Good afternoon,
While the RUTX10 does not natively process or interpret PROFINET traffic, it can be used as a Layer 2 (Ethernet) switch or Layer 3 (IP router) to transfer PROFINET data between devices, as long as it does not interfere with the real-time requirements of PROFINET communication.
Physical Connection
Connect your PROFINET devices (PLCs, HMIs, IO modules) to the LAN ports of the RUTX10 using Ethernet cables.
Network Configuration
Access the RUTX10 WebUI by navigating to [http://192.168.1.1] in your browser.
Log in with the default credentials (admin/admin01), and change the password as prompted.
Ensure all PROFINET devices and the RUTX10 are on the same subnet, or configure VLANs if network segmentation is needed.
Switch Mode/Bridge Mode
For minimal interference with PROFINET traffic, configure the RUTX10 to operate in bridge (switch) mode rather than as a router. This allows Ethernet frames, including PROFINET packets, to pass transparently between devices.
Disable any firewall, NAT, or packet inspection features that could block or delay PROFINET packets.
If possible, prioritize PROFINET traffic using QoS settings to reduce latency and jitter, which are critical for industrial automation protocols
The RUTX10 does not provide PROFINET protocol stack, diagnostics, or certification. It acts only as a transparent Ethernet device for PROFINET frames.
For advanced PROFINET features (such as device discovery, real-time class compliance, or network diagnostics), a dedicated PROFINET switch or certified device may be required.
