RUTX router - recurring mobile data disconnect every ~2 hours (both SIM/operators) since firmware 00.07.23.7

Hello,

I am experiencing a recurring, structural problem on one of our RUTX routers, and I would like your help identifying the root cause.

SYMPTOM
Approximately every 2 hours, 24/7, the mobile data connection drops:

  • “Mobile data disconnected (internal modem)”
  • “IPv4 connectivity started to fail” / “DNS resolution started to fail”
  • The connection does not recover on its own; after roughly 20-25 minutes the ping-reboot watchdog triggers a full reboot (“Request from ping reboot”)
  • After the reboot the router reconnects successfully, only for the exact same cycle to repeat about 2 hours later

This has been happening continuously since 30 July 2026 and is still ongoing at the time of writing.

TWO SIM CARDS, SAME BEHAVIOR
The router has two SIM cards installed: one from KPN (operator code 20408) and one from Odido (operator code 20416). The router switches between these SIM cards during this period, and the exact same ~2-hour disconnect/reboot cycle occurs regardless of which operator/SIM is active. Since this rules out an operator-specific cause, we suspect the issue lies with the router’s internal modem or firmware rather than the mobile network.

TIMING CORRELATION WITH FIRMWARE UPDATE
The events log shows that the router was upgraded to firmware RUTX_R_00.07.23.7 on 30 July 2026 at 13:15:34, and the 2-hourly disconnect pattern begins almost immediately after this upgrade. Before this update, similar but far less frequent/regular disconnects occurred.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR

  • Reviewed the full Events Log to confirm the pattern is consistent across both SIM cards and occurs at a very regular ~2-hour interval
  • Identified the correlation between the onset of the issue and the firmware upgrade to 00.07.23.7
  • We are currently in the process of downgrading the firmware back to RUTX_R_00.07.22.3 to test whether this resolves the issue

QUESTIONS FOR SUPPORT

  1. Is there a known issue with firmware RUTX_R_00.07.23.7 affecting mobile data/modem stability?
  2. Do you have any recommendations before we downgrade (e.g. specific settings to check, or a different firmware version to try)?
  3. Could you advise on the correct downgrade procedure for our specific model to avoid configuration issues?

Our router model: [vul hier je exacte model in, bijv. RUTX11 / RUTX50]
Serial number: [vul hier in]
Current firmware: RUTX_R_00.07.23.7

I’m happy to provide an export of the full events log if that would help with diagnosis.

Thank you in advance for your help.

First download firmware for your device from here, and then follow these instructions on how to flash. Flashing from boot loader mode is not the same as upgrading from web gui. Make sure your modem firmware is updated to latest version as well and you also need to make sure to disable VoLTE.

Hello @12connect,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Could you kindly confirm whether the issue has been resolved, or if you still require any assistance?

Best regards,
