I’ve just received a RUTM50, and am using it with a T-Mobile sim card in the United States. I’ve tested both with the stock antennas and with a Taoglas MA1509.AK.001 external antenna. The RUTM50 is running firmware [07.06.3].
When I set the unit to 4G only, I get a solid connection and good throughput with good signal quality reported. When I set the unit to 4g/5g, the status briefly shows a connection, which then drops before actually sending/receiving any data. How can I best go about diagnosing this issue?
It’s hard to say what could be causing this behavior. Since T-Mobile is the only carrier in the US to use 5G in standalone configuration, it could be related. If your mobile plan is 5G-capable, I will ask you to log into the device CLI, and run the following command:
gsmctl -A 'AT+QNWPREFCFG= "mode_pref",NR5G'
This command will lock the device to 5G SA mode. If this does not help, you can revert these changes by executing the following command:
gsmctl -A 'AT+QNWPREFCFG= "mode_pref",AUTO'
If that is the case, I’d like to suggest organizing a remote session to troubleshoot the issue further. If you agree, I will send you the further instructions to the email address that the Community support forum account was registered on.
