RUTM30 with 2x2 MIMO antenna

Hi,

I have a new RUTM30 unit I will install in a location that (currently) only has an external 2x2 MIMO antenna. Which 2 of the 4 mobile antenna connectors should I connect the external antennas to? The connectors are all marked the same on the unit chassis.

I found several answers in the forum for RUTX50 but none for this model, which has a different modem inside.

Greetings,

All four mobile antenna ports are classified as MAIN ports.

  • On the RUTM30, ANT0 and ANT5 are TRX (Transmit/Receive) ports.
  • The middle ports, ANT2 and ANT3, are DRX (Diversity Receive) ports. These improve signal reception but do not transmit.
  • For optimal performance, we recommend connecting antennas to all four ports.
  • If only two antennas are used, connect them to ANT0 and ANT5, as these ports support both transmission and reception (TRX).

You can find information about 5G antennas for other devices here: 5G Mobile Antennas - Teltonika Networks Wiki

Hello, I own a RUT955 and want to upgrade to the RUTM30. I have the following antenna connected to the RUT955: 003R-00253 Can I use this antenna with the RUTM30? Which antenna connectors on the RUTM30 would be best to connect to the roof mounted antenna? For the remaining two antenna connectors, I will use the included flat antennas. Wondering which combination of “indoor small antennas” + roof mounted antenna will be best, across ANT0, ANT2, ANT3 and ANT5.

Greetings,

@krl could you please create a separate topic regarding this question?

I’d advice - from experience - against not having identical antennas for all connectors. The setup I tried caused modem resets during heavier network traffic. The issue was fixed by replacing the two included antennas with identical outdoor yagis (4x4 MIMO with 4 Iskra P-60).
