RUTM30 SIM2 Slot not working

Anybody ever experienced the SIM2 slot in the RUTM30 not working?
When checking the connectors with a flashlight it also seems as if one of the pins supposed to connect to the inserted SIM is “twisted”.

Greetings, @AnNaTC,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please provide more details regarding the “twisted” pin you mentioned? If possible, a photo would be very helpful.

Additionally, could you clarify whether the SIM2 slot fails to detect SIM cards from multiple providers?

This information will help me investigate the issue further.

Kind regards,
V.

Thanks for your response.

A photo is impossible; it is hard to see even with a flashlight and “eyes”.
The most left PIN seems to be not in “place”.

I can confirm that 3 SIM cards I tested are not detected at all while all of them work in SIM1.

Greetings, @AnNaTC,

Thank you for your message.

In this case, I recommend contacting your sales manager or reseller to confirm whether the device is still covered under warranty and, if applicable, to proceed with the RMA process.

Warm regards,
V.

Yes!
We were using e-sim to start with, but that that process isn’t documented. Had to find a YT video to get it done.
Anyhow we now want to stick with good old physical sims.
The problem is neither sim card slot works.

Followed the very basic troubleshooting guide - NO JOY.

Factory Reset - NO JOY,

Manually installed latest stable FW - NO JOY.

Factory reset again - NO JOY

Tried 4 NW sims (here in UK, EE, 3, Voda, O2) from working TUTX50’s - NO JOY

Distributor referenced the wrong model and troubleshoot step when we contacted them (Only accepting he was wrong when we sent phots and video) -NO JOY

Advise to returned it with the ominous sentence of: “We will demo it working, then send it back“.

I’ve been in IT for 30 years, it’s DEAD!, RoR, an X router, it has sent it’s last packet and any other it’s feckin’ dead references you can think of.

My main issue is this:

This is a £350+ router, for that money I can get avery comparable routers at 1/2 the price. I’m paying the extra for: Reliability, Service, Quality.
A £350 that doesn’t even have very good documentation around it and nothing in the box about activating and using e-Sim.
An industrial router at this price point that doesn’t even have basic soft foam seals around entry points to prevent dust ingress.
A £350 router where the support is provided by other users! I can get that with a £50 chinesium router.
A £350 router that gets very hot because it relies solely on passive cooling (wouldn’t be as bad if it have decent fins on it.)

Over the last 2 years Teltonika has had sky high pricing and bargin basement support and components (don’t even get started about the much heralded RUT31 that didn’t even make it to market!)

Companies like Draytek, Ubiquiti, MicroTik and others are out pricing Teltonika.

My friend put his cheap 5G Huawei up against my RUTX50 (I know other IT guys that have had them in < 6months and binned them citing poor wifi signal, poor wifi client binding, poor 5G performance and a lack of good documentation.) and it smashed it, speeds I had only ever been dreaming of on 5G. Then Teltonika have the audacity to claim 3.5Gbps (yes I know all the caveats, but I get more speed on my phone handset standing by the router antenna!) on 5G!

Genuinely the last Teltonika we will buy.

If I’m going to get £100 build, performance and support, I’ll buy something at that price point.

Greetings, @DS4AUK

Thank you for taking the time to describe your experience in such detail. I understand how frustrating this situation is, especially given the expectations that come with an industrial-grade device at this price point.

That said, this particular thread is related to a different issue, and troubleshooting SIM slot or hardware-level failures requires its own focused discussion. To ensure your case gets proper visibility and structured assistance, please create a new topic specifically for your RUTM30 SIM slot problem.

When opening the new topic, please include:

  • Exact device model and hardware revision
  • Current firmware version (even if reflashed)
  • Whether the device reports SIM presence at all in the WebUI / CLI
  • LEDs behavior during boot and when SIMs are inserted
  • Confirmation that the SIMs are standard micro-SIMs (not adapters)
  • Photos of the SIM slots and WebUI status pages (if possible)

From a technical standpoint, if both SIM slots fail to detect any known-working SIMs across multiple operators after firmware reinstallation and factory resets, that strongly points to:

  • A faulty SIM reader assembly
  • Damage caused during eSIM provisioning or prior handling
  • Or a defective modem board

These are not software-recoverable conditions and typically require RMA replacement. Troubleshooting beyond that without hardware diagnostics would not be productive.

Creating a new topic will allow support engineers and community members to:

  • Review your case independently
  • Avoid mixing unrelated issues
  • Provide a clear recommendation (including confirmation of hardware failure if applicable)

If you still require assistance after opening the new topic, support will be able to continue from there with full context.

Thank you for your feedback - while criticism is noted, the fastest path to resolution in this case is a clean, dedicated support thread.

Warm regards,
V.

Just received my RUTM30 this morning, popped a SIM (Three UK) directly in to tray 2 and like you, nothing.

My eyes arent good enough to see if anything is bent or damaged in there.

SIM1 is working without any issues.

Greetings, @Joners,

Welcome to Teltonika Community!

If the SIM card only works in SIM1, you can try contacting your reseller or sales manager to initiate an RMA process, provided the warranty is still valid. You can share the device’s serial number with them so they can verify the warranty status.

Best regards,
V.
