Dear Teltonika Support,
I am contacting you again regarding an issue that I keep hoping has been fixed in newer firmware releases, but unfortunately it still persists.
My device is a Teltonika RUTM30. I use ZeroTier for remote access and, fortunately, I also have access through RMS, which allows me to recover the device when the issue occurs.
Recently I upgraded the router to firmware version RUTM_R_00.07.23.6. Once again, immediately after the firmware upgrade, package updates stopped working. The router reports that there is no Internet connection, even though:
-
the eSIM is active,
-
the router is online,
-
I can remotely access the device through RMS,
-
I can log in and manage the router remotely.
Despite this, downloading packages fails because the system claims there is no Internet connectivity. This is clearly incorrect, as I am connected to the device remotely at the time.
Fortunately, I can work around the problem by manually uploading packages through my mobile phone connection and RMS, but this should not be necessary.
There are actually two recurring issues that have existed since approximately the 7.22 firmware branch:
1. Package updates fail after firmware upgrades
After upgrading to a newer firmware version, package installation or package updates frequently fail because the router incorrectly reports that it has no Internet access.
2. Modem firmware upgrades are unreliable
This time I was able to upgrade the modem firmware immediately after upgrading the router firmware. However, in the past I succeeded only once, while on other occasions the modem firmware update failed.
I am wondering whether ZeroTier could somehow interfere with the router’s connectivity detection mechanism. I cannot confirm this, and it is only a suspicion, because the behavior is inconsistent:
-
sometimes the modem firmware update works,
-
sometimes it does not,
-
package updates consistently report lack of Internet connectivity even when the router is clearly reachable remotely.
Could you please advise:
-
Is this a known issue?
-
Are there any logs I can collect to help diagnose the problem?
-
Is there any known interaction between ZeroTier and the connectivity detection used by RutOS package management or modem firmware updates?
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards, M
