RUTC50 worked perfectly with KPN data SIM in NL, but not in FR

I have set-up a RUTC50 5G-router in my caravan using a KPN data SIM. Worked perfectly in the Netherlands with the standard settings that seem incorporated in the SIM card as I didn’t have to set up anything - worked like a charm immediately with Auto APN on. Now in France, the SIM won’t start up. Manual set-up of APN doesn’t give the opportunity to fill out details like MCC or MNC. Checked the SIM card set-up (business SIM), and all parameters seem ok: no roaming blockage, unlimited data etc. Status shows: Operator: N/A, Operator state: not registered, Network type: no service. Anybody any thoughts on what to do next?

Greetings, @Mentos5000,

Welcome to the Teltonika Community!

To help us troubleshoot this issue further, could you please clarify the following:

  • Does the SIM card work in another device (for example, a smartphone or tablet)?
  • Is it possible to test a different SIM card in the RUTC50?

This information will help me determine whether the issue is related to the SIM card itself or the device.

I look forward to your reply.

Warm regards,
V.

I have planned to insert a Spanish SIM card later this week when I am in Spain. Unfortunately I have no access to an alternative device with which to test the Dutch KPN card to see whether it works then; I’m travelling with work gear that is all heavily protected and won’t accept anything else than installed anyway, so that doesn’t discriminate.

Hello,

Thank you for your follow-up.

Additionally, you may want to contact your SIM provider to check for any operator-based limits or restrictions, and to confirm which providers are supported in a different country (e.g., France).

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
V.

Had company helpdesk change some SIM account settings. Whilst still in France: nothing changed. Now two days later in Spain set-up suddenly works. Not sure whether this is due to the changes kicking in late or due to the Spanish carrier responding different to roaming request than the French. I guess we’ll find out on the way back in three weeks….. to be continued.
