I’m trying to setup a VPN connection with my RUTC50 as client to my Mikrotik Router at home. I’m using L2TP over IPsec. My Mikrotik Router has a dynamic IP and has it’s build in DynDNS service so I can connect to it using the Routers hostname from anywhere with my iPhone, Macbook or any other device without a problem.
The RUTC50 has a problem and giving me the following Log entry:
Fri Oct 11 11:45:17 2024 daemon.info ipsec: 13[IKE] <MCI-MCI_c|4> IDir ‘My-Router-IP’ does not match to ‘My-Router-Domain’
The RUTC50 is complaining that my Mikrotik Router is responding with it’s current IP and not with it’s domain. If I use the current IP to connect it works without any problem.
Well this is an issue on the RUTC50 because all other clients are able to connect, I guess most of the user don’t have and don’t need a fixed IP at home and have the same issue.
Thank you for your Reply. Yes of course I can share the config of the VPN in RUTC50, as I mentioned I’m using L2TP over IPsec to connect to my home as all my other devices do.
I hope some screenshots will do it, first the IPsec config:
in the Server field I want to put the DYN-DNS Hostname of my router, currently I have there the IP from my router but the IP has changed already so the connection is not working right now. If I put the current IP of my router in both server fields for IPsec and L2TP the VPN works.
I kindly ask you to send me a troubleshoot file. I have sent you a form to fill out, and once completed, I will contact you privately regarding this. For the ticket ID, please use “9756”.
