RUTC50 - PPPoE Settings

Hi,

I’ve purchased a new Router which is a RUTC50 and I would like to configure it for PPPoE.
My existing Modem Router (TP Link) has PPPoE settings which I would like to configure and use the new Router.
As per my ISP I need to configure just 3 things
UN, PW and VLAN 2.
When I do that I’m unable to log in - unable to connect.

Can you please guide me as to how I could configure the router so I could make this work.

Thank you
Chris

Hi Chris,

There is two routes for VLAN. Create Network > VLAN > Interface based configuration for wan port port or use custom physical device named wan.2.

For pppoe go to Network > WAN page and edit default wan interface configuration:

  • General Settings tab
    • Mode: PPPoE
    • PAP/CHAP username: --provided by ISP–
    • PAP/CHAP password: --provided by ISP–
  • Physical Settings tab
    • Interface: select created Interface based vlan OR in drop-down click Add new button and write wan.2

Also probably disable wan6 interface

If you already tried it perhaps you used VLAN id in Advanced settings tab when configuring PPPoE interface? If I remember right it is not a 802.1Q VLAN.

HI Dainius,

Thank you for replying back, please see attached settings on my router.
Please send me your email to send you some screenshots.

You missed VLAN tag value and VLAN priority values. I told to try remove these values and use proper vlan that you already have set up.

Also disable bridge interface on wan. Keeping it enabled should not break anything but it does nothing as this interface has only one physical interface (device)

If it does not work can you hover on image it should show if it failed to connect to PPPoE server or auth failed

Thanks Daniel.
Its working now and these are my settings.

If I remove the bridge - The Wi-Fi stopped working.

Can we do an AnyDesk session (remote) and check my PC.

As long as wifi does not use same interface it should not happen but if everything works with bridge then it’s all good

Thank you very much for all your help. Much appreciated.

Thanks agian
