This is meant to be a “last resort” post, after which I’ll give up and switch to another router… I can’t figure it out:
We’re talking about a RUT956, currently with the firmware: 00.07.18.3… OK, it’s not the latest firmware… but I’d like someone to confirm that the problem I’m having is actually firmware-related…
The router has a built-in physical SIM card that connects to a surveillance video recorder via LAN. Currently (although incredibly SLOW), I can view the cameras remotely… let’s not blame the carrier because there’s good signal coverage and I’ve already switched 4 carriers!!! But the connection is still slow!
In addition to this annoying problem, I can’t get a WiFi connection near the router! Despite everything being configured correctly, MANY devices are unable to connect to your WiFi… they take forever to try to connect and then return the error “unable to connect to the selected WiFi”… I have been able to connect but MANY sites were unavailable returning the error “unsecured private connection”, etc. etc… problems related to the connection and not to the PC in use, let’s be clear.
This router is very expensive due to the countless problems it presents, to be honest.
I have a last backup available with the latest current configuration where I can ONLY connect with some smartphones, but connection is not allowed on many sites!
I want to emphasize that it is NOT a carrier issue! I can assure you of that!
It’s a router issue!
I’ve already tried your call center, but they couldn’t help me and told me to ask here.
PS: Currently, to ensure proper operation, I’ve installed a Netgear router… and I’m having no problems whatsoever (same SIM).
If you need the backup, I’ll be happy to make it available to anyone who wants to help me.
