RUT956 Remote WiFi accessable, but not RMS

I have a RUT956 set up to create a remote WiFi to which I have two Tapo cameras connected. I can access the cameras, so the mobile connection is OK, but when I try to access the device using RMS to modify some configuration, the RMS interface says the device is offline.
It worked when I initially set the device up av few months ago and had credits.
After futile attempts to buy some more credits from https://instantbuyrms.com/shop/ without a VAT-number (that is stated as “optional”), I gave up and bought a 5-year management pack from a dealer. I have activated the support pack and connected it to the device. From what I have been able to find out, I shouldn’t need any data pack to reach the RMS interface.

Hello,

To troubleshoot the issue, could you please try the following steps:

  1. Disable and Enable RMS Service Connection:
  • Access the WebUI of your RUT956, and navigate to Services → Cloud Solutions.
  • Try disabling and then enabling the RMS service connection, and press Connect to see if it resolves the issue.
  1. If WebUI is Unavailable:
If you’re unable to access the WebUI, you can try sending the following SMS commands:
    • admin password rms_off
    • <admin password> rms_on
    • <admin password> rms_connect

Additionally, could you please provide a screenshot from the Device details → Recent device events section?

Kind regards,

I could not access the WebUI, but the SMS method worked!
For your information, I am using a pre-paid SIM and it had run out of data, it was after I paid for more data and then bought the management pack that RMS was still unexpectedly offline.

Thanks for your help!

PS: Please also either sell credits without requesting a VAT number, or at least remove the text that it is “Optional” when it is not. Caused me (and others) some confusion and wasted time.

Hello,

Thank you for the update. If I understand correctly, the issue is now resolved and was caused by reaching the data limit set by your ISP?

If you need further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Best regards and Happy New Year!

I consider the issue solved.
However, if the mobile data connection is interrupted for some reason (data limit or other), I would assume RMS should re-connect automatically when the connection is back so this may be something you want to look into for the future.

Thanks again for your help and a happy new year!
