I have a Teltonika RUT956 router that was originally running firmware version RUT9M_R_00.07.15. I attempted to update it to RUT9M_R_00.07.01.5 using the firmware downloaded from the Teltonika website.
After the firmware change, I was no longer able to access the router using its assigned IP address. I discovered that the router’s IP address had reverted to the default 192.168.1.1. However, I am unable to log in using either my previous credentials or the default credentials.
I have also performed a factory reset twice, but I still cannot access the router.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or knows how to recover the router and revert it to a working state? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your post, and our apologies for the late response.
To clarify, if you changed the firmware from RUT9M_R_00.07.15 to RUT9M_R_00.07.01.5 - that is a very large downgrade, as 07.01.5 is the first firmware released for the device, whilst 07.15 was released in 2025.
If this is indeed the change that was made, it is more than likely the reason for the login issue.
To note, since you did downgrade the firmware version by a large margin, the “keep settings” option was disabled by default - which is why your IP returned to the default one.
Lastly, could you perhaps clarify why such a drastic downgrade was made? As we do not recommend using such an old firmware version - quite the opposite, as the newer firmware versions resolve issues, bugs, etc.
