RUT956 - L2TP over IPSec VPN Inactivity Timeout

Hi,

Is there a way to implement a timeout if a user is connect and idle for 15 mins? I can see an inactivity field under advanced IPSec settings but not sure if this will do what I’m after.

Also, is it possible to have a user be kicked off if another user connects? We only seem to be able to connect using 1 account, so if a user has left there VPN connected no one else can connect.

Hi KiainShaw,

As you’ve mentioned, there’s an “Inactivity” option under advanced connection settings, when this option is selected and a value is specified, an inactive session will be closed after the time has elapsed.

Regarding your second question, with the current option, it is not possible to disconnect another user when another user connects however you can configure another L2TP client and have multiple users connected to your VPN server.

Thanks for the response.

Do you know if the inactivity field should be set using seconds or minutes, I assume seconds so if I want 15 minutes I should set it to 900?

I will look into setting up a second L2TP client.

Kindly note that the inactivity field is in seconds.

So 15 mins would be inputted as 900
