We have one RUT956 device which is listed as down and we cannot connect to it (SSH, WebUI). However, the computer is still sending data out, so the assumption is that the router cannot connect to RMS Teltonika.
What can we do to make it come up again?
Firmware is 7.04.02
Last successful status is from midnight.
I am sorry to hear your device shows offline in the RMS system. Here are a few troubleshoot steps that should assist:
Please and install the newest firmware version for the device, as the firmware version you have is older. Until you do so, further troubleshoot may not work, however i am still advising you of the steps.
Check if you can see any message near the “Status” icon in Devices tab in RMS, next to the device in question.
If the device has an exclamation mark with an error message, and it states that service is disabled, please enable the service under Administration → Companies → View company details and if credits are available, please toggle the service on.
Please also advise if you have any remaining credits in RMS → Companies → View company details.
Thanks for the reply and sorry for the late reply. In the end we had to manually restart the device. We still have enough credits. All the other devices run well.
We have in the mean time installed a wireguard VPN on all devices which allows us to directly connect. We see namely another device being down. This time with firmware version RUT9M_R_00.07.14.2. Again, we can connect to it using our VPN, so the router is working. It is just that it cannot connect to the RMS Teltonika serivces.
Can you advise have you done the steps advised above to troubleshoot your issue?
What was the result? Can you advise me if you receive any errors? Or what is the error shown in cloud solutions when you are trying to connect the device to RMS?
The device Status on the Device tab says “Offline” but we can connect without problem using our own VPN to the raspberry pi behind the router..
We still have credits left for at least two months.
On the device tab we see the message
“Device has attempted to connect to the system. 2025-06-21 16:46:13”
“The device is redirected to the authentication system. 20 2025-06-21 16:46:13”
I cannot access the WebUI for the device.
In the notification center I see the message: “Network state: Denied != Registered, home; Time stamp - 2025-06-09 23:59:13 (UTC); Device automation”. I don’t know if that has something to do with it.
We currently don’t have local access to it as it is 100km away from our office. However, we can connect through our VPN to the raspberry pi. Is there maybe a way to leverage this connection to diagone further?
You would need to find out the Sim card in the device phone number, and send some text messages to it.
I would recommend utilizing commands like mobileoff ; mobileon ; rms_off ; rms_on
However in your instance, if you are unable to make the device connect remotely, you will need to get to the device locally, and check what error you are getting in cloud solutions when you are trying to connect.
To resolve the authentication code issue, you can take a look at this link : RMS Devices - Teltonika Networks Wiki
The code itself would also be in RMS, when you access the device itself.
