RUT956 Access via Mobile data

Hi there,

I am trying to permit access to our RUT956 which hosts a couple MODBUS devices / MQTT transmission and a camera stream, via wireguard VPN.

Everything is working on wifi, the wireguard is configured well and there are handshakes and I can ping the server and other devices on that network, however, as soon as the device leaves its wifi area, or I disable the wifi from the webui then I can no longer access the device. Some MQTT Data is still transmitted though, so that tells me the mobile connection is somewhat working and it can communicate with the MQTT server.

I have tried to attach a diagnostics file, however it is not letting a new user attach it, hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I suspect an interface needs to be bridged or some DNS settings may need to be played with, but my networking knowledge is limited in these aspects.

Anyone able to help with this?

Hi rdejong,

Welcome to Teltonika Networks Community!

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

When you are connected via mobile sim, can you confirm that you are able to ping the wireguard server IP. You might need to configure Failover so that it will use the back up WAN source (mobile sim) if Wi-Fi connection is not detected.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,

Hi,

I tried that earlier today.

It’s as though mobile and the wifi are interconnected. When you disable wifi, you lose access altogether, and the same happens when you disable mobile.

However, MQTT will work on mobile for 2/3 devices, a third device will only transmit when in wifi signal.

I tried RMS connect today and I can connect and ping the device and devices on the LAN network, but again, I lose RMS access when I disable wifi. I would have thought by using RMS cloud service it would always work with a mobile signal. That doesn’t appear to be the case. I can send a diagnostic file if that helps?
