RUT955 private APN password change via SMS – problem

Hello.
I’ve run into an issue with changing the private APN access password via SMS.
The situation requires a remote password change, but it isn't working correctly.

Here is the scenario:

When the RUT955 is connected to the APN and the data connection is working fine, I can change the password without issues by sending three SMS commands:
uci set network.mob1s1a1.password=1234
uci commit
reboot
The RUT955 reboots, and the password is updated.

However, when the RUT955 is disconnected from the APN due to an incorrect password, the data connection does not work.
I use the same SMS commands again. But after sending the SMS
uci set network.mob1s1a1.password=1234
the password change doesn't always take effect. I have verified this scenario several times.

When the RUT955 is disconnected from the APN, SMS delivery is unstable.
Sometimes the delivery delay is a matter of seconds, while at other times it takes hours.

Any ideas?

Hello,

When the APN password is incorrect, the router continuously retries the mobile data connection in the background. During these reconnection attempts, the modem is occupied with registration and PDP context negotiation over the same AT command channel that also handles SMS reception.

This causes SMS delivery and processing to become inconsistent messages can be delayed anywhere from seconds to hours, and in some cases processed out of sequence, which is why the uci set command doesn’t always take effect before uci commit or reboot is processed.

Kind regards,
Z.
