Rut955 global + Apple Devices = weak security

Hi,

my Apple devices keep telling me that security of my WLAN connection is weak because auf WPA. The encryption is set to WPA2-. I read in the old forum that you should set the cipher to “Force CCMP (AES)” only. If I do this, then my MacBook can’t join the WLAN anymore.

Firmware is the latest: RUT9_R_00.07.06.12

So any idea how to fix this?

Kind regards
Hendrik

Hello Hendrik,

You do not need to FORCE CCMP (AES) in this case, you can change your encryption on wireless SSID section. Connect to your router’s WebUI and head over to Network → Wireless → SSIDs → Edit the SSID that you are using for connection → Wireless security → choose Encryption: WPA3-SAE, but some devices might not be able to support WPA3-SAE, then it that case choose “WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE Mixed Mode” → Save & Apply and then test it out if you are able to connect to the WLAN using your MacBook.

For more information about configuring wireless on Teltonika router, you can refer to this guide: RUT955 Wireless - Teltonika Networks Wiki (teltonika-networks.com)

Let me know how it goes,

Hello Hendrik,

RUT955 supports WPA3, let me walk you through the steps on how to enable WPA3-SAE on your RUT955 device.

Connect to your Router’s WebUI and make sure you have enabled advanced mode, so we would be able to change the Wireless security to WPA3-SAE. It is located on the top-right of the interface:

Once we have enabled the advanced mode, go to Network → Wireless → SSIDs → Edit the interface on which you will want to have WPA3-SAE

Then once you are in the SSID configuration, move to Wireless Security section and there you will see a option Encryption, there from the drop down menu choose WPA3-SAE and Save & Apply.

After that you can try to connect to the Wireless network using your MacBook and you should be able to do so, if you are not able to connect to the wireless network using WPA3-SAE, , then it that case choose “WPA2-PSK/WPA3-SAE Mixed Mode” from the drop down menu and once again Save & Apply and try again.

Let me know how it goes for you!

Hello Dziugas,

sorry, there was no scrollbar and I didn’t try to scroll down. Unfortunately my MacBook and my iPhone can’t join the WLAN with either WPA3-SAE nor WPA2-PSK/WPA-SAE Mixed Mode"

It says could not be joined, but the password is correct.

These are the only settings which allow my devices to join:

Hendrik
