Hi,
we have a fleet of about 60 Teltonika RUT955 and RUT950 devices. We are generally very happy with reliability and performance of the devices.
In the recent firmware updates after 7.06.3 there was an issue with OpenVPN OpenSSL so we skipped the updates after. Now we noticed that there is some issue with failover-functionality on version 7.06.3 so we want to update the devices without loosing our VPN-Connection.
We also run a few RUT956 devices, that had the same issues with VPN up until firmware version 7.07 and after.
So my question is: is there any chance to get the big update of 7.07 also for the RUT955 and 950?
RUT955 changelog for firmware 00.07.06.12 (2024.06.20) notes some fixed VPN issues, have you seen this/
Hello,
As @Mattk mentioned, the fix should be available in the latest firmware for your device.
Regarding the RUT955 and RUT950 not receiving the 07.07 update, this is because these devices have entered the end-of-life (EOL) cycle and will no longer get the latest firmware updates. However, they will still receive bug fixes and security updates.
Best regards,
Hi, thank you for the quick reply!
I think the Fix that made 7.07.2 on my RUT956 work with our VPN was noted as this in the changelog:
- OpenVPN: added fixes for the insecure tls-cert-profile option usage
This does not seem to be implemented in 7.06.12 for RUT955 and 950
We are long term going to update our server, until then would be nice to be able to run the most recent firmware
Be advised, that you have the option to run “original” openwrt on the RUT955. Incl. most recent packages and fixes. Doing this on larger than yours fleet. Incl. auto-failover between wan/wwan/wifi-wan. MAY_BE your openVPN issue might be manually patched into your 7.06.12 firmware, though.
Hello @RickMcRock ,
I’ve reached out to our R&D department, and they will also include this fix in the 07.06.x firmware branch.
Best regards,
This is awesome news!
